See no evil

Here is my 63rd of 314 photos for the one mile project.

I made this photo at the charity rugby game at Colerne RFC where Bath legends played Bristol legends.

You may have to help me out with the ex players names if you know who they are?

Physio

Here is my 62nd of 314 photos for the one mile project.

Today there was a charity rugby game at Colerne RFC where Bath legends played Bristol legends.

The Bristol chaps finger was pointing in the wrong direction. I'm not sure what Joe Thomas did to fix it, but Bristol player seemed to be smiling.

Raspberry

Here is my 61st of 314 photos for the one mile project.

I made this photo today at the allotments. There was one allotment at the far end that contained loads of raspberry canes. Shot with a macro lens, this photo is made up of three images, each one focusing on a different part of the raspberry, so it is all in focus

Church door

Here is my 60th of 314 photos for the one mile project.

Just wondering around the village looking for inspiration and thought the church door would be a good option. I have tried a few different photos of the door before, but this time zoomed in on the handle and key hole. I processed the photo with a little HDR treatment to bring out the texture.

Missing spike

Here is my 59th of 314 photos for the one mile project.

I noticed that the railings around the Walmsley was missing a top (I wonder where it went?). I adjusted the depth of field to keep one of the tops in focus, but so the others fade out of focus, with the war memorial in the background.

Poppy

Here is my 58th of 314 photos for the one mile project.

This photo was taken a week or so ago, in a field just off the bridal path between Colerne and Thickwood. There were lots of wild flowers, with just a few poppies remaining.

Hydrangea

Here is my 57th of 314 photos for the one mile project.

This time a photo from the other side of the wall with the pink hydrangea flowers making up the main focus. Shot at F11 to keep most of the subject in focus. I love the contrast with the green leaves.

Thickwood Lane

Here is my 56th of 314 photos for the one mile project.

This is just on the edge of my one mile radius and must be one of the most picturesque street signs around the village. I did a little photoshop work to remove the wooden post that was blocking some of the hydrangea flowers. I used an aperture of F11 to keep it all in focus.

Exploring

Here is my 55th of 314 photos for the one mile project.

Taken on the bridal path between Colerne and Thickwood. She loves to run ahead and explore, and I love to stop and take photos - it works out well. I tried to time the photo so the sunlight was shining on her hair.

Wildflowers

Here is my 54th of 314 photos for the one mile project.

As we had a little free time this morning whilst mummy was busy, we decided to take a few photos. The intention was to find a nice field of wheat, but instead I was tipped off about this amazing wild flower meadow (thank you Pat Stinson!!). We spent only five or ten minutes taking photos, but had some really nice shots, of which this is one of my favourites.

Vintage look

Here is my 53rd of 314 photos for the one mile project.

After the popularity of this guy (Chris Hazell) in another albumn I uploaded, I though I had better add him to this project. I took this photo earlier today, when on my way back home from work

I added a vintage look to it, as I felt its fits with the stooking.

Always long sleeves

Here is my 52nd of 314 photos for the one mile project.

My second photo of a helper putting up the stooks. You can always spot the experienced stookers (if that’s the word) as they wear long sleeves. Those with short sleeves have red raw forearms by the end of the day.

Building the stooks

Here is my 51st of 314 photos for the one mile project.

Another photo of the thatching straw harvest. Working in pairs they (Nick and T) stack four sheaths against each other to form the initial stook, adding more sheaths. Once they have dried the sheaths are collected up again by hand.

Looking through the crops

Here is my 50th of 314 photos for the one mile project.

50 photos all within 1 mile of my house feel like a bit of a milestone. I took this photo at the weekend whilst the last of the thatching straw was being cut. Shooting from a low angle I used the full length of the lens (70mm) to try and compress the photo, making the crops and the church/village appear closer.

Rose in a tea cup

Here is my 49th of 314 photos for the one mile project.

I was asked to take photos at this years village show, I'm only going to include one photo from the event in my One Mile Project, and this is the one. Ratther than a plate of carrots or runner beans I dicided on this rose in a tea cup. It didn't win first place but was my favourite.

Sheaths of thatching straw

Here is my 48th of 314 photos for the one mile project.

My second photo of the thatching straw being harvested. I went for a low angle to include the sheaths, but also like the Jack Russel sat upright in the tractor.

Binder

Here is my 47th of 314 photos for the one mile project.

I have not posted for a couple of weeks, mainly down to family holiday time and other photography committments. Luckily its stook season, so I should have no shortage of material.

This photo shows farmer Chrissy driving the tractor with the binder attached. Cutting the thatching straw ready for it to be stood up into stooks. I timed the shot so that the church is visible in the background.

Marching

Here is my 45th of 314 photos for the one mile project.

Taken on Saturday at armed forces day just as the parade had started.

This was my favourite shot of the day for traditional photo composure; the main subject (military personnel) are well lit in the sun, with the horse chestnut tree framing the photo and providing shaed for the people watching. Then your eye carrys on round and you see the cubs/guides etc leaning to get a view.

Zena & Pat

Here is my 44th of 314 photos for the one mile project.

Taken on Saturday at armed forces day whilst both ladies were enjoying a Pimms in the shade. This is one of the photos I held back from the main armed forces day album.

I like that it was a natrual photo and they both look happy and relaxed. I took this photo looking down at the flip screen to keep a natrual lower angle, keeping the depth of field fairly large to ensure they were both in focus.
